MasterCard Built a Female Soccer Table for the UEFA Champion's League Women's Final
Sponsor Activity by McCann Includes Film Featuring Young Female Players
Editor's Pick
Women's soccer is getting a higher profile in the U.K. than ever before, thanks to activity around last week's UEFA Champions League Women's Final held in Cardiff.
UEFA kicked off its own pan-European campaign aimed at young women, and sponsor MasterCard also created its first activation around the women's soccer final, building a soccer game table featuring female players.
The campaign, by McCann London, includes a film seen here, which interviews young female players about how they feel about the game, and shows the table being built. In the film, the girls talk about their passion for football and what drives them, and ends on the words of a girl from Thornhill Athletic FC, who says: "I can be a professional footballer, and I will be one."
At the final in Cardiff, fans could play on the all-female table in the fan zone. It's currently housed in MasterCard's office but McCann is looking at where it could be used at future events.
