San Antonio is more than 50% Hispanic, and the Texas city knows how to celebrate El Dia de los Muertos. In anticipation of the Day of the Dead holiday to honor and remember deceased relatives and friends on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, it already held a two-day event held last weekend featuring costumes, a design-a-skull workshop and a contest to judge the best altars set up to honor the departed.
If you can't make it to this destination city for El Dia de los Muertos, you can send a Muertogram instead, courtesy of the San Antonio Convention & Visitors Bureau. For Instagram fans, "Muertogram" is a desktop and mobile site that invites users to snap or upload a selfie and their face is instantly decorated in traditional Day of the Dead face paint. The experience, created by Proof Advertising, is available at http://muertogram.com.
