Skip the Ad or Watch Some Skipping? Harvey Keitel Lets You Choose in Direct Line's Pre-Roll Spot

Insurance Brand Hopes to Engage U.K. Viewers With 'Pulp Fiction'-Style Jump Rope

U.K. insurance company Direct Line has been using Harvey Keitel, in character as Winston Wolf from "Pulp Fiction," in its ads for the past few months, and it puts him to good use in this YouTube pre-roll spot.

Keitel's voice invites us either to skip the ad, or watch some skipping. Keep watching and you'll see a 'Pulp Fiction'-style game of jump rope, as Wolf's associate Billy skips a rope held by two heavies as they throw what appears to be his laptop at his feet. Wolf then points out that Direct Line Home Plus Insurance gives you (and also Billy) a couple more choices -- a cash payment transferred directly to your account or a replacement item should your laptop get damaged. Saatchi & Saatchi created the spot.

Other examples of pre-rolls that keep you watching include Geico and The Martin Agency's Unskippable, which won a Grand Prix at Cannes this year in the Film Craft category, and Burger King's Anti Pre-roll ads in New Zealand.
